TRI Train Rental continues its fleet modernization program with the recent completion and rollout of locomotive 145 040. Following a successful test run on 9 July 2025, the locomotive is scheduled to enter revenue service this evening. 145 040 had a repaint in TRI’s blue, white and red.
145 040 history
- Adtranz 33358 / 1999;
- Class 145 / TRAXX F140 AC;
- Entered service in November 1999 for DB Cargo;
- Got “Nahverkehrspaket” for Expo2000 services in Hannover
- Again did passenger services in 2010-2011 for DB Regio;
- Became part of RBH Logistics fleet in 2018 (daughter company of DB);
- remained red – with blue RBH logos;
- Revisions in 2013 and 2021.
- Sold to TRI in 2024 – remained red, with small TRI logos
- repaint at Alstom’s in Kassel in 2025.
Other locomotive developments
Another Class 145 of TRI is also being subjected to an overhaul. 145 097 (= 145-CL 201) is to return to tracks in DB’s historic orient red paint with “Latz” front striping.
Another classic machine, 139 313, is also making a return. Repainted and reclassified as E40 1313, the unit is being collected and tested today after completion of its overhaul.
