Free at last! Talgo class 105 for DB testing in daylight on the German network

Recently, Railadventure has been conducting tests between Augsburg and Munich with a Talgo class 105 locomotive. This is the first time we’ve gotten pictures of such locomotive testing, running light under its own power in Germany.

The Talgo ICE L coaches have recently been authorized for the German network, but the class 105s are still in the authorization process. Talgo has announced they will be officially presented in Berlin on 17.10.2025. Meanwhile the first sets have been seen in test passenger service, halting at Berliun Hauptbahnhof for example.

The slower 160 km/h Vectron Dual Modes for DB Fernverkehr will likely be ready in time, but it remains to be seen which locomotives are to be used for their initial introduction between Berlin and Cologne in December 2025.
