During the night from Monday, October 13th, to Tuesday, October 14th, Velaro Egypt unit 8006 was towed from the Schijnpoort yard in Antwerp to Noorderkempen station on High-Speed Line 4 by an SNCB Class 18 locomotive. On this line the train, which can only operate under 25 kV, carried out its high-speed tests. Maxim Vete was present.
About the project
The delivery of 41 high-speed units is part of a vast €8.1 billion project involving Siemens Mobility and Orasco Contructions. The first car was unveiled at the Wegberg test track in December 2023, and Siemens brought a four-car section, including a bistro car, to the Innotrans exhibition in 2024.
