On October 29, 2025, Nürnberg Verkehr was able to catch a complete DB ICE L “sandwich” formation with two ELL Vectron locomotives. These Siemens machine will serve as ‘gap-fillers’ until the Class 105 electric locomotives and the driving trailer will be authorized for commercial operation .
ELL 193 440 and 193 441 were positioned at either end of this ICE-L transfer run from Munich towards Nuremberg, with the final destination Berlin-Lichtenberg:
Three days later it was time for a run with passengers. DB employees were invited to join a 12-hour (!) journey from Berlin to Düsseldorf and back as IC 1148/1149. Below you see the train in Dormagen on November 1, 2025 with ELL locomotives 193 440 and 448:
