Free – Spotted: First DSB Talgo Driving Trailer

The first driving trailer for DSB’s Talgo 230 trainsets has been sighted in France, marking the next step in the delivery process for Denmark’s new EuroCity fleet. The driving trailers were ordered separately from the main batch of Talgo coaches and will enable the trains to operate in push–pull configuration once introduced.

The sighting comes only days after DSB began passenger service with its new Talgo 230 trains on 03.11.2025, operating between Copenhagen and Hamburg. Until the driving trailers enter service, each train will continue to run with a Siemens Vectron locomotive at both ends.

In total, sixteen Talgo 230 sets have been ordered by DSB. Eight sets have already been delivered to Denmark, each consisting of two end cars and thirteen intermediate cars. All sixteen end cars have been completed. Due to Talgo’s articulated design, in which two car bodies share one wheelset, the driving trailers cannot be delivered individually. It remains unclear whether existing sets will return to Spain for fitting or if the remaining units will be shipped with their cab cars already attached for later reassembly in Denmark.

Thanks to Tim Roux we have images of the driving trailer as it travelled through France.
